Dariel Zerenski was a wealthy full-blood vampire aristocrat, Kagan's son and Rayne's half-brother.

Appearance[]

Dariel is a tall male vampire of an average build. He has well groomed short black hair, goatee and blue eyes. He’s dressed in a expensive tuxedo, slacks and shoes. He carries a magic cane with him at all times.

Personality[]

Being a very wealthy aristocrat, Dariel is very cultured and possesses a great deal of manners. He acts like a gracious host, even to his enemies. He also seems to be aware of the little loyalty most of his siblings possess towards their father and doesn’t care too much for them, but the extent of his loyalty to Kagan is unknown.

Plot[]

Zerenski was an offspring of Kagan. He owned a huge mansion and had an important social position. His job in the Cult of Kagan was to kill the city's citizens who have a high social status (mob bosses, royals, city officials, etc.). When Zerenski hosted a party at his mansion, Rayne snuck in. Rayne meets him, but he didn't recognize her and when she tells him who she is, he mentions Delinda, one of his sisters, which Rayne had previously killed. They met in the roof where they fought and Zerenski died. Keeping to the theme of the cliche horror boss, he has his mansion wired to explode upon his death.

Equipment[]

  • Cane: This cane has a magic jewel adorning the top that allows Dariel to control a vast number of bats.

Powers and Abilities[]

Rather then fight up close and personal, Dariel prefers to use magic and let bats do the work for him.

  • Bat Manipulation: With his magic cane, Zerenski can command vast swarms of bats to attack enemies.
  • Bat Transformation: He can transform into a small group of bats to evade attack or travel far distances. But he can take significant damage if attacked in this form.

Trivia[]

  • In Zerenski's mansion, baths filled with blood can be found - it's a reference to Elizabeth Báthory.
  • In the chamber where Rayne faces the Dhampir, the Moldovan flag can be seen dangling from above. This could be an indication to Zerenski's origin. Also there is the Nazi Germany flag with the G.G.G. insignis, Calico Jack’s jolly roger pirate flag, and the British Army flag.
  • Zerenski employs more male dhampir. His slaves say that he hates 'lady dhampir' for unknown reasons.
  • His surname is sometimes spelled as Zerenzki.
  • Zerenski was originally going to appear in the BloodRayne comic, "Plague of Dreams" but was cut.
  • During BloodRayne 2, in the ballroom where Rayne and Zerenski converse with eachother before battling, there was a cut dialogue where Rayne shows off the Carpathian Dragons. Zerenski is gets very upset and yells "Gardath's boils", referencing the Elder God from the second episode in Nocturne.
  • Upon defeating Zerenski on the PS4/PS5 and Steam remastered versions, you earn the trophy "Going Batty".
