Kestrel are a group of seven Asian dhampir assassins and possible daughters of Kagan.

Appearance[]

Every Kestrel sister is completely identical. They’re tall female dhampir with fair skin, silver eyes and long dark navy blue hair.

Each wear matching black leather bodysuits with pointed boots and pieces of steel armor, including: breastplates, shoulder guards and bracers. Their mouths are hidden behind mouth masks.

Personality[]

The group of Kestrel as a whole don’t differ much in the way of behavior. They toy with and tease Rayne, leading her on chases. They speak in somewhat broken english constantly. When clearly outmatched in a one-on-one fight with Rayne, they will attempt to flee in a seemingly cowardly manner, but will fight to the death if necessary.

Plot[]

BloodRayne 2[]

The Kestrel were in charge of bringing humans to the Shroud tower, where their blood will be used to create "The Shroud". One of them, after seeing Rayne's combat abilities, asks Rayne to join them, but her offer is turned down. Rayne tracks them down through the rooftops, streets, union station, abandoned mall, Club Strages, and sewers. While Rayne thwarted their mission by killing five of the original seven, Ferril and her henchmen finished the task of using human blood to create "The Shroud".

Equipment[]

  • Arm Blades: They have a pair fixed blades attached to the bracers on each arm. They resemble bird wings and are wielded with deadly skill.
  • Heel Blades: Behind each boot is a single curved blade the Kestrel use with their kicks.
  • Throwing Knives: They can throw multiple knives with impressive accuracy and speed.
  • Armor: The polished steel armor each one wears is tough to the point of being bulletproof.

Powers and Abilities[]

The Kestrel are dhampir and possess all their corresponding natural abilities. They are able to match Rayne in agility but are outmatched in everything else. But they do possess superior ninja-like stealth.

Trivia[]

  • Severin's quote about "birds" in the Kestrels' bloodline led to the speculation that the Kestrel are either entirely female ("bird" is British slang for "girl", and Rayne only encountered female Kestrel) or they had some spiritual connection to actual birds, possibly the kestrel.
  • The Kestrel appear to be under Ephemera's employ, as they both make their first appearances in the same levels together, and they fit with Ephemera's supposed Asian theme.
  • The Kestrel are hinted by Rayne and Severin to also be Kagan's daughters, such as when Rayne says that if the Brimstone Society hadn't got to her before Kagan did, then she would have turned out like the rest of Kagan's children, to which Severin responded "You think you would have turned out, as one of those Kestrels?"
